Belly Out

Sara F asked:

I had some kind of dry up blood discharge yesterday. Today i woke up and i had more blood but it was redish/brown. Right now its all cleared up, but i bet it will be back. What kind of blood is bad during pregnancy. I’ve talked to the doctor about this and they don’t want to see me till I get the pinkish red.
i’m anywhere from 5-7 weeks.

Bright red spotting, or clotting at all, is a sign of an impending miscarriage. Dried, old (brown) blood is fairly common, especially in first pregnancies.

Light brownish blood is ok, if it gets heavy like a period, bright red or clotting alot call your doctor back, also if you start getting really bad cramps with it call. How far along are you?

If your doctor says okay, then it’s okay. They don’t mess around if they feel something could be wrong. I know from experience.

That color is fine. Your dr knows what he is talking about. If it was bad they would have seen you. Relax and dont stress, if you stress then thats not good. If you bleed alot of its BRIGHT red then that is when you need to be concerned. But you are FINE…RELAX I know its scary, but your dr knows what there doing.

any bleeding in pregnancy can be dangerous and needs medical advice,at 5/7weeks if you are going to misscarry there isnt anything that can be done anyway

if you’ve talked to your Dr and he says all is well, then why don’t you sit back and enjoy your pregnancy, bright red is not good when your pregnant at any stage, brownish red is pretty normal, unnecessary worrying could cause stress in you and your baby so lie back and relax now because you won’t have chance when that little person is born. good luck

If it’s heavy, bright red, has tissue in it, and accompanies cramping (plus a few other possible symptoms, such as fevers, body aches, etc), then it’s definitely a worry if you’re pregnant.

Brown blood is old blood, so it’s okay. Most women experience brownish blood at some point–between periods, just before a period, and sometimes at the beginning of pregnancy as the uterus prepares to seal itself off “from the rest of the world” and rids itself of everything not needed (old blood risks infection).

I had a light spotting of pinkish blood a few weeks ago (im 10 weeks so far!) and it freaked me out and so i went to the emergency room and they told me its common to see some light spotting and only to be worried if your bleeding enough to soak up a maxi pad. So I think unless its crazy bright red ACTUAL straight up bleeding (not just spotting) you’ll be fine.
