At 12 weeks it’s accurate within about 5 days either way.

The date of conception can be anywhere in that month. Your unltra sound will give you a due date as well if you ask they will tell you.

I think they just go off your last cycle but if you think about it you can’t get pregnant on your period(maybe I am wrong) but my daughter was born 6 days before my due date. So I think not even a doctor could tell you the exact day of conception. I have only heard of one person’s due date actually being the right day.

(-: No, I think it’s just a general guideline if everything goes right. I only know one baby who was actually born on its due date. I was almost a month late! (But that was back before doctors would induce a mother if they were lagging behind.) My eldest was five days late. My youngest was right on the dot. So, if everything goes right, I’d say you’d have a week either way.

But if something goes awry, you could have the baby several weeks early. That happened to my friend — but I’m happy to report that her little girl is a thriving, happy, completely normal girl. Well, maybe on the exceptional side (-:. Modern medicine is such a miracle sometimes!

Congratulations, and don’t sweat it too much.

if you know what your date of conception is, the doctor will schedule that exactly 40 weeks later

but the due date almost always changes. and a very small margin of women actully deliver on their due date

    CONGRATS ON THE BABY!

First day of last menstrual period: October 16, 2006
Estimated date of conception: Monday, October 30, 2006
End of 1st trimester (12 weeks): Monday, January 8, 2007
End of 2nd trimester (27 weeks): Monday, April 23, 2007
Estimated Due Date: July 23, 2007

How accurate is your Due Date?
    How are due dates calculated?
The standard calculation is called Nägele’s Rule. This was developed in the 1850’s by a Dr. Nägele, who determined that the average human pregnancy was 266 days from conception, or 280 days (40 weeks) from the start of the last menstrual period. To calculate this, begin with the first day of your last period (LMP). Add 7 days, then subtract 3 months.
    Good luck and Congrats!
