pregnancy week calculator
ooxy_rr r asked:

My first date of last periods was feb 28th 2007.I went to the gynea after 3 weeks of missed period.Doctor scanned and told me my baby is 5 weeks.

But before consulting the doctor i used the pregnancy calculator in net. From the result it will be showing am 7 weeks now.

Is it possible to show this much of difference from scan and internet calculator?
Or i feel my baby is not having a proper growth.I already had my miscarriage before 1 year.

no that is about right cuz the first two weeks of the pregnancy you really are not pregnant yet. you will ovulate 2 weeks after your lmp and that is what the baby is.

Go to a different doctor, tell him or her what you found. Your correct in thinking that something could possibly be wrong.

if the doctor did an ultrasound then he is probably right, those things are pretty accurate, the baby could be measuring smaller or larger than that though the first 2 weeks of pregnancy don’t count (from what i’ve been told) so where you may think youre 7 weeks youre actually 5

babys grow at a different rate so yes his “scan” and your calculator can shw a difference of as great as 4 weeks (not very common but does happen) also you could have beenstressed/whatever which delayed your period and then you got pregnant and missed it altogether, going by period date is not 100% accurate, your doctor will continue to check and as long as the baby continues to grow you are fine.

Nope scan is right. Yes, it is normal for women to be off on their count. If the doctor did a scan then I am sure he/she feels things are going fine.

The date of your last period gives your doctor a start point. The ultrasound will further get the baby’s age down to a better estimate.

I’ll put it this way: you know your last period. You don’t know when you conceived.

It’s really possible that they are off, but it’s not that there’s imporper growth.

I’m between 19 and 24 weeks, depending on when I conceived. According to my last period, I’m 24 weeks along. I just had an ultrasound, and they said I was 18 weeks. Whether they are off or the baby is growing slower than most, that’s going to be decided next month.

Calculating how many weeks pregnant you are is kind of confusing. There are TWO different ways to calculate. If you go by your LNMP (last normal menstrual period) you are expected to be pregnant for 40 weeks. However, the doctor usually goes by the estimated date of conception…which occurs two weeks or so later than your LNMP. By this calculation you are expected to be pregnant for about 38 weeks.

Ask your doctor which calculation he/she is using.

    LMP: February 28, 2007

    Length of Cycle: 28 Days

Probable Date of Ovulation: March 14, 2007

Possible Dates of Conception: March 11 to March 19, 2007

    Due Date: December 5, 2007 (40 weeks)

You are: 8 weeks and 2 days pregnant. (Gestational age)
six weeks from conception = Baby 6 weeks (Fetal age)

The embryo is about 10mm, less than a half inch long.
At a 6 weeks scan, dating can be plus or minus 1 week out

    Good luck
