Ok, I’m not pregnant yet (hopefully SOON!!!) but I have been playing around (well, obsessing) on the internet with TTC and baby stuff. I have a question about calculating your due date. Do you go from the first day of your last AF, or of your conception (around ovulation) date? I have entered “what if” dates for both, and I get answers varying from 2-3 weeks. Which method is the correct method?

you go from the first day of your LMP ( last menstrual period). This is what the Drs use, so when they say pregnancy is 40 weeks, it is “technically” 38 weeks from conception. KInd of confusing, I know, but that is the way that they do it.

The best way to calculate your due date is to take the first day of your last period, add seven days, then subtract three months. This is called the Naegele RuleThat will give you an accurate due date!

You take the first day of your last menstrual period. Then when you get a positive HPT and go to the doctors they will do an ultrasound to get a more accurate due date by measuring the embryo from crown to rump.

The Dr. will calculate from the first day of your last period. So, go with that one. The reason you get a two week difference is because you don’t ‘conceive’ until the baby attaches to the uterus wall – which can happen anywhere from 7-10dpo. Hope that helps. Good luck and LOTS OF BABY DUST!!!
